The ease of learning is one of the reasons why SUP is becoming more and more popular. While standing or sitting on your knees on your stable board, you’ll be paddling along the beautiful rock formations of the region of Lagos.

During this SUP grotto tour, we will go through the grottoes in the region of Lagos Portugal. The most famous grottoes are the ones around Praia da Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo and Ponta da Piedade. While standing on your board, you’ll experience the coastline from a unique perspective.

There are several time options, but we are a fan to go for the Lagos SUP grotto tour in the early morning. The reason why we like doing this SUP grotto tour in Lagos in the morning is to avoid the crowds in the kayaks and motorboats and experience the amazing atmosphere by catching the first sun rays of the day. If you’re not a morning person and prefer to go a bit later, let us know. On the afternoons when it’s not too windy, we can also offer this on as a sunset SUP caves and grottoes tour in Lagos so you can sleep a bit longer on your vacation in this beautiful city.

FAQ SUP Tour in Lagos

What should I wear for the SUP tour?

On a SUP tour, if it’s your first time, most likely, you’ll end up in the water. So be prepared for that 😉 In the summer season, usually, just your swimsuit is enough for a SUP tour. Some prefer to wear some shorts or leggings or a t-shirt or lycra to protect from the wind or the sun. During the colder winter season, it might be better to wear a wetsuit. Most of the times, wetsuit rental is included in the price of the tour. Most of all, don’t forget a hat and sunscreen (and even sunglasses with a string to avoid losing them in the sea). Regarding shoes, SUP is done barefoot. You can leave your flip flops or shoes in the shelter on the beach. After the tour, you might want to have a towel and some dry/warm clothes.

Can I store my belongings while doing the tour?

You can store your belongings in your own (rental) car or with the guides, in their van or in the shelter on the beach. We recommend bringing as few things as possible. Camera-wise, you can bring a GoPro or similar or a waterproof bag, but no worries, on most tours, the guides will take some stunning pictures!

Is this tour suitable for people who’ve never done SUP before?

Yes, all SUP tours on SeaBookings are designed for beginners unless otherwise stated. The SUP tours include a brief beach-class where you’ll learn how to manoeuvre the board and the paddle. During the tour, the guides will also be able to give some practical tips to improve your technique.

Is there any required fitness level for this tour?

You don’t need to be super fit, but you should be able to paddle for a while. The pace of the tour will be adapted to the level of the participants. Above all, it’s not a race, it’s a sightseeing tour!

Is this tour suitable for kids?

Most SUP tours are designed for adults with some strength. As we said above, you don’t need to be super fit, but you should be able to paddle for a while. Depending on the fitness and ease of the kid, from 10-12 years can already be possible, but this also depends on the conditions, so we strongly recommend to contact us before booking for your child.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, for the majority of our SUP (and kayak) tous, basic swimming skills are a must. Most likely you won’t need to swim, but you never know! You’ll also be wearing a life vest for safety reasons, which is mandatory by law.

What happens if the tour is cancelled?

The SUP tours are always subject to the weather and sea conditions. If we expect the tour to be cancelled, we will get in touch with you in the evening before your tour. It may happen that occasionally, the tours are cancelled last minute. We’re sorry, this may happen. If we don’t manage to find a new compatible slot, you’ll always be 100% refunded.

Do I have to stand on my feet while doing SUP?

SUP stands for stand-up paddle, but you don’t need to “stand-up”. You can also sit-passle or knee-paddle 😉 Or even lie-down-paddle!
