Yes, we love Barcelona. We went there last weekend and had a blast. I would like to share my top things to do in Barcelona with you. I must admit I’m a bit biased towards sea activities, but of course, I also share some other tips.
My top 5 things to do in Barcelona
1. Eat tapas and drink sangria
Of course one of the things to do in Barcelona is to eat. We have several favorite spots in Barcelona for some tapas and sangria. My friend and colleague Lianne recommends De Tapa Madre. But as we were not nearby when we were looking for tapas, we went to a place we found on our way to Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona. We went to Restaurant Elisabets and found a true authentic experience. The wine is great and tastes even better with some nice garlic mushrooms, tortilla and patatas bravas.
We also liked Alsur Café & Backdoor Bar next to Parc de la Ciutadella for some nachos and sweet potato patatas bravas.
2. Visit La Sagrada Familia
Yes, it’s one of the true must things to do in Barcelona. The Sagrada Familia is one of the most impressive buildings I’ve ever seen. Some areas of the Basilica are currently undergoing rehabilitation works but it’s still amazing. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth to go up to the towers. Don’t forget to buy your ticket online.
3. Stroll around El Poblenou like a local
One of my favorite ways to explore a city is simply to feel its vibe by strolling around. While wandering around Barcelona we stumbled upon this very authentic, cool and cute district – El Poblenou. Poblenou is an old industrial neighborhood that is constantly changing and improving. You’ll still find charming smokestacks scattered throughout the area. The Rambla del Poblenou hosts several local restaurants, bars, cafes and small shops for those who want to stroll the day away in a relaxed atmosphere.
4. Discover a different view on a boat trip in Barcelona
Of course, I had to mention a boat trip or two in this list of best things to do in Barcelona. There are several options, for all budgets and schedules. If you’re on a tight budget or short of time, you can do a boat trip in Barcelona for only 30 minutes and 10€ per person. If you have a little longer, you can do 60 minutes for 15€ or even 90 minutes for 18€. Just enjoy!
5. Feel like the owner of a luxury sailing yacht in Barcelona
This private sunset sailing tour in Barcelona is great for couples or a group of close friends who want to have some quality time together. Along the trip, we will sail along some of the most emblematic symbols of the city. You will enjoy a beautiful sunset with a good glass of wine/cava in your hand. There’s time for a refreshing dive in the sea if you want to. You can book this private sunset sailing tour in Barcelona for 2 or 3 hours.
