This Berlenga Caves Boat Tour is the best option to visit Berlenga Island and the surrounding sea caves. Off the coast of Peniche lies the Berlenga islands, which consist of several smaller islands and one large island. During your visit to Peniche, you really must see this nature reserve, which is a true paradise.
Located on Portugal’s coast, Peniche is known mostly as a fishing village. This approximately 3,5-hour Berlenga Caves Boat Tour departs from the Marina in Peniche on our beautiful catamaran. In the winter months (between October and March) since the days are shorter, the island time is also shorter (between 2:00-2:30 on the island, excluding travel time).
Depending on the sea and weather on the day, we’ll take one of the three routes from here to the largest island. You will be able to marvel at the breathtaking scenery of the smaller islands and Peniche’s shoreline on the trip there!
This Boat tour also includes a visit to the caves around Berlenga Island. This is a perfect opportunity to explore the unique rock formations all around, formed by the force of nature. With the boat, the skipper can get really close and depending on the tides even inside the cave, so you can take some incredible pictures.
The islands of Berlenga, Estelas, and Farilhes make up the well-known Berlengas archipelago, which is situated about 6 miles from Peniche. The only inhabited island is Berlenga. Did you know that since 2011, these islands have been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Nature Reserve? The region actually has a diverse range of plants and animals.
