Dolphin watching

There’s something absolutely magical about watching dolphins play in their natural habitat. We remember the first time we saw dolphins up close during a boat tour—it’s one of those moments that takes your breath away.

These playful creatures have a way of making you feel connected to the ocean. What’s really great about these tours is that they’re perfect for all kinds of travelers—families, couples, nature lovers, and even solo travelers who just want to experience something special. The tours take you out to the best spots where dolphins are known to swim, and the guides are experts at spotting them.

It’s amazing to watch them leap through the air, swim alongside the boat, or even come right up close as if they’re just as curious about you as you are about them. It’s also really fun for kids, who often get excited when the dolphins start playing or showing off their acrobatics. What makes these tours even better is that you’re often treated to other wildlife sightings too—like sea birds, turtles, and sometimes even whales, depending on where you are.

If you ask us, the best time to go dolphin watching is during late spring through early fall, from May to September, when the water is calm, and the dolphins are more active. During these months, you have the highest chance of seeing them, and the weather is perfect for spending a day out on the water. Some locations have special timing to spot certain species, according to their migratory routes.

Swimming with dolphins is the next level of dolphin watching, if the conditions are right, you’ll get to jump into the water, right next to the boat and swim with these magical creatures. Our founder Bo had the chance to do so in Madeira. You can read about her incredible experience on our blog.

Dolphin watching is truly an experience that brings joy to everyone on board, and there’s nothing quite like the moment when a dolphin jumps out of the water, just a few feet away. Don’t forget your camera—trust me, you’ll want to capture every second!
