Sesimbra is an authentic little beach resort about 40 km south of Lisbon. Its stunning landscapes and relaxing beaches will enchant you. We have plenty of boat tours and exciting activities like scuba diving and coasteering in Sesimbra! Lots of reasons to plan your day trip from Lisbon to Sesimbra now!
Here are the best and easiest ways how to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra:
-
Bus
This is the easiest option to consider when thinking about how to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra! The bus is operated by TST and departs from the bus station in Praça da Espanha (blue metro line) or Alcantara to Sesimbra. The bus number is either 207 or 260. They both take about an hour and cost you 4,35€ to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra.
Make sure you arrive with some time if you’re departing from Praça da Espanha, as it can be a little confusing finding the right bus station the first time. The ticket is purchased with the bus driver and is not part of the Viva Viagem ticket. On www.tsuldotejo.pt you can find the timetables for the two busses. They usually depart once an hour and more frequently during weekdays.
The Bus is really the cheapest and easiest option to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra. You just hop in and hop out at the last stop, which is the bus station at Avenida da Liberdade in Sesimbra! From there, you arrive right in the town centre and have about a 5-minute walk to the beach!

Train
There is also an option to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra by train. However, it is longer and a bit more expensive than catching the bus. You have to take the Fertagus train from the station Entrecampos in Lisbon to Setúbal. In Setúbal, you need to get off the train and get on the 230 bus. However, this bus doesn’t run very often. So if you’re unlucky, you’ll have to wait quite some time until you catch a bus.
A taxi from Setúbal to Sesimbra will cost around 20€. If you need to wait too long for the bus, this might be a good alternative to get from Setúbal to Sesimbra. The train departs every 20 minutes during the week. On www.fertagus.pt you can consult the timetables and fares.
The train is a good option if you have a little more time and no rush when thinking about how to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra!

Taxi or Uber
If you’re traveling with more people, you can also consider getting a taxi (or Uber – cheaper and safer in our opinion) to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra. This is the easiest and most comfortable way to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra. A taxi to Sesimbra takes about 35 minutes, depending on traffic. If you pre-book a transfer from the airport, for example, you pay only 35€. Otherwise, the price will be around 40-50€ to Sesimbra.
Another alternative are the private transfers. A private driver will pick you up where and when you want and take you to your destination. We recommend RobustPerfection, with a “perfect” transfer service all around Portugal.
For groups and people who are not traveling on a budget, getting a taxi from Lisbon to Sesimbra might be a great option to consider!

Ferry and Bus
If you love the water, you should also consider taking a ferry to get from Lisbon to Sesimbra! From Cais do Sodré in Lisbon, you can take the ferry to Cacilhas. Once you get to Cacilhas, get on the bus number 203 which goes directly to Sesimbra. Consult www.tsuldotejo.pt for the timetable!
This is a nice option for sunny days, to enjoy the way to Sesimbra by doing a little tour on a ferry on the Tagus! The ferry runs every few minutes, so you’ll don’t have to wait long. The price for the ferry is 1,20€, the bus costs around 4€.
